OOTD - SPIN EDITION

What is the first thing you notice when getting ready for a spin class? For us, it’s always the outfits. We interviewed three of our Mo’s here at YEG Cycle about their fitness style and we’re serving these looks hot and ready through the computer.

This is Chelsea.

Chelsea is a fun, bubbly, and bright person, just like her outfit would suggest.

Q: Who are you wearing?

A: My spin outfit is all Lululemon, including underwear and socks! They have the BEST socks. My casual outfit is Lululemon, Frank and Oak, and Converse

Q: What inspires you to wear bright colours to spin?

A: It's fun! I don't normally like to wear bright color day to day, so when I'm teaching and working out it's fun to show my personality and stand out a bit more.

Q: What are the similarities or differences between your spin outfits and your everyday outfits?

A: I think they're both pretty simple. I normally go with a black pair of tights and a colored bra. If I wear black pants, it doesn't matter what colored bra I pull out at 5 am. It's easy! Day to day I like looser tops and don't really dress up. I'm quite low maintenance and like my clothes to fit a bit bigger, so it's rare to find me in a fitted top outside of the spin room!

Q: Tell me one thing you absolutely love about spin.

A: I love connecting to the music and letting it move me, which gives me the confidence to do what I can to inspire the riders. Whenever I make a new playlist I think about the feeling it will create and how I want people to feel when they hear it! Connection to the Bikergang, the music, and my body and mind are the most important things to me.

Q: Who are you wearing?

A: My spin outfit is Lululemon with a Boston Red Sox hat by New Era, Stan socks from the Michael Jackson Thriller collection, and a pair of bright red Adidas slides. My everyday outfit is Club Monaco, The Bay, and the wing slides, those are also Adidas by Jeremy Scott.

Q: What inspires you to wear such funky socks?

A: Oh, well that’s an easy answer. Actually one of the other motivators, Greg, rocked the socks and I was like, “oh my god that’s so cool.” It kind of made sense for me to do it too, so I am copying him a bit, but I wear crazy patterned socks at work too cause I have an office job and I find that it’s the most fun way to snazz up my outfit. So I was like if I can do it at work, why can't I do it at spin? So I started doing that too.

Q: What are the similarities or differences between your spin outfits and your everyday outfits?

A: So I am a sneaker freak, a sneakerhead, and I’ve found that because you have to wear spin shoes, a good way to bring some of that funky style is through socks, which I saw through Greg, and that’s how it’s similar. The way that it’s different is, because I sweat so much in spin class, I stick mostly to Lululemon when I'm in class and then when it’s super hot like it is today, Lululemon again, just because it breathes and it wicks away the sweat, and it’s just so comfortable.

Q: Tell me one thing you absolutely love about spin.

A: Oh gee, that’s a biggie, cause the reason that I really got into it was that it’ s form of exercise. I was actually looking to lose weight when I first started. What I learned maybe even 3 or 4 classes in was that it’s more than just working on your body. There’s a mental aspect to it that allowed me to come to class and work out any aggression or stresses that I might have through the day or through the work week and just spin it out on the bike. It also helped me relieve stress that way. As I was taking more and more classes, the fact that I could start keeping up with the instructor and doing everything they say, as opposed to sitting on my butt the whole time like I did my very first class, just seeing that progress was just so motivating, so that’s what keeps bringing me back over and over again.

This is Ashley.

Ashley has dino-buns.

Q: Who are you wearing?

A: I’ve got Lulu everything.

Q: What inspires you to rock the dino-buns?

A: Honestly its because I got a short haircut and I couldn’t fit it in my usual top bun so I decided to do 3 buns, and I kind of looked like Rey from star wars. I wore my hair to school like this one day and they called them dino buns, and that’s why they're up there.

Q: What are the similarities or differences between your spin outfits and your everyday outfits?

A: Its spin hair, but I usually if I do spin and then go out, I just keep it like that and people have called it different things like the bun Mohawk.

Q: Tell me one thing you absolutely love about spin.

A: I love the energy, cause I feel like it’s really hard to motivate yourself, but if you’re in there with so many people, it’s like, the person next to you is just as tired, the person in front of you is telling you exactly what to do and giving you all the energy and I love that feeling.
